LifePonic Solutions FAQs

How do I choose the best size for my LifePonic Solution Tower Garden?

Generally, the answer depends on how often you eat greens. Each tower will produce approximately one large tub of greens (16 ounces) per week depending on the varieties of greens in the tower. So, if your family consumes 16 ounces (1 plastic tub from the store) per week, you will want our Single Tower Solution.  If you consume less that one large tub of greens from the store (16 ounces), consider the Mini-Tower. If you are a camper and take your RV on trips, you know how difficult it is to find fresh food when camping.  The Mini-Tower is a great compact way to have greens with you through your summer camping tours, for full-time campers or those living the Van Life.

However, most of our customers are eating far more greens than they have eaten in the past because the taste is so incredible — they feel better and their bodies start craving more greens! Fresh greens harvested directly from our LifePonic Tower Solutions provide the high nutrition our bodies need and also creates a desire for more greens. Over time, your body will begin to crave fresh greens daily. Your digestive system will also thank you.  One customer purchased a LifePonic Tower Solution and soon after went to the doctor to address long-term digestive issues.  Their doctor highly recommended eating fresh greens daily as part of their diet.  Their purchase of a LifePonic Tower Solution was timely and they love their LifePonic greens that the doctor ordered. Many LifePonic customers are purchasing larger solutions than they need and only grow in one or two towers currently.  Their reasoning is that they want extra greens to give away to family and friends and they want to have the immediate ability to ramp up their production if food supply issues arise in the future.

Whatever hydroponic tower system you choose, you can also control the amount of growth by increasing or reducing the amount of water and light you provide to your plants. This gives you flexibility — for example, if you want more greens around a Holiday, you can ramp up the water and light you give your plants. Or, if you are planning to be out of town, you can reduce the amount of water and light your plants receive. We are working on an automated watering system and app to control lights and water, which will give you even greater control in the future!

What are the differences between the Standard and the Premium lights?

The cannabis industry has pushed lighting to a high level of technology and costs. It was a challenge to find suitable lighting with the correct light spectrum for growing leafy greens at a reasonable price. We have tested many lights and the Standard lights are good and much better than many others for a low-cost light. The Premium lights are even better and will result in a 55% per quarter increased production of leafy greens. You can always add additional lights in the future. You could mix our Standard our Premium lights. Typically, not always true, but in this case, the more light to your LifePonic Tower, the better. See a detailed summary of our research here. https://lifeponic-solutions.com/lighting-package-comparison/

What is the average cost per salad as a meal?

To calculate the costs of a LifePonic salad meal, we add the cost of electricity for lighting and pumps, plus cost of water and nutrients. The Premium Lighting Package produces approximately 3.2 ounces of salad per day and the Standard Lighting Package produces approximately 2.1 ounces of salad per day. Once you add the cost of dressing, toppings and protein, the total cost per meal is close to $3.00/meal. If you were to purchase greens from Whole Foods, the cost of greens alone is about $1.12 per 3 oz. salad where LifePonic greens grown under Premium lights cost approximately $0.36 per 3 oz. salad and LifePonic greens grown under Standard lights cost approximately $0.47 per salad. Growing your own greens with LifePonic Solutions has a significant savings in food costs in addition to the health benefits and food security and independence you gain. Additionally, you can be confident that your home-grown greens are free of pesticides and preservatives, and that the freshly-picked salad is providing you with optimal nutrition, factors which are invaluable.

What other vegetables can I grow than leafy greens?

The LifePonic Solutions towers are designed specifically to produce the most amount of healthy sustainable food year-round.  Leafy green plants do just that.  Leafy greens can be harvested again and again every few days where tomatoes take approximately 50-90 days and cucumbers between 45-80 days.  Herbs are best grown separately from your towers and we will show our members how to have fresh herbs year-round.  The germination kit and towers are great for sprouting a wide variety of vegetables that can grow in your LifePonic towers to sturdy seedlings that are ready to transplant to your garden.  The survivability of your vegetables in your garden may be enhanced due to having strong seedlings to transplant rather than starting seeds in your garden. In our members area, we will be providing detailed guidelines on how to germinate and grow seedlings for transplanting to your garden.  We will also be providing other gardening techniques and strategies for those interested in indoor gardening in a small space.  We have successfully grown potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, strawberries and tomatoes indoors in garden boxes.

What happens if the power goes out?

When the unexpected happens and you lose power to your home, your LifePonic towers can easily be watered manually with a pitcher several times per day.  Our patent pending design allows for the greatest capture of water in the root zone of any vertical hydroponic system available.   For a day or two, lights are not needed depending on where your LifePonic Solutions towers are located in your home.  Moving your towers into direct sunlight will alleviate any need for additional power.  Passive light coming through the windows is not sufficient light for more than a couple days.

At the request of some former military special operations personnel, we have been developing a complete off-grid solution that will run without any grid electricity.  We are designing three sizes of solar generator solutions that will keep your plants growing and keep your lights on, as well as run other essentials in your home from 1-3 days continuously without power.  Members will be the first to have access to life saving solar power generator solutions.  We have been researching and having discussions with several top vendors about their solutions and we have not yet found a suitable solution available online.  Therefore, a custom LifePonic solar generator solution seems to be the best way forward for our customers. We will keep our members updated on our progress to provide the highest power and lowest cost solar generator solutions on the market.

What do we do with our tower garden when we go on vacation?

We have large water tanks that allow you to be away from your home for one to two weeks at a time. For our members, we provide several strategies and plans that allow you to extend your away time for up to six weeks or more. A complete app driven remote watering and lighting solution is currently being developed for our LifePonic Community members.

I have read the testimonies on the website and many of the first customers say the LifePonic towers produce extra food! What do we do with extra greens?

We hope this is your experience also.  Too much food is a good thing.  We hope you give fresh greens to other family members, neighbors and friends.  Several of our first customers bought larger solutions than they needed for the express purpose of having extra to give away and having the immediate ability to grow extra food if a crisis arrives.  The design of our LifePonic tower solutions make it easy to grow in one or two towers and not grow in the additional towers until the time is needed such as holidays, family visiting or other needs that might arise where more food is needed in a quick turnaround.  The germination kit allows you to plan when you have extra greens ready for harvest such as holidays.

Once I have a tower how do I get more supplies?

We are different than most other hydroponic companies. Part of our mission is to equip you to be food independent and that includes not having you rely on any single source for supplies. We do have some supplies in our members only area, but those are not critical to your ability to maintain food independence. As a member, we provide you with suppliers of seeds, pumps, lighting, seed pods, etc. for you to gain food freedom without relying on us. While this business position is not normal and we do not have recurring fees or subscriptions, those practices go against our mission to help you achieve food security, independence and ultimately food freedom.

Can I use my own seeds and pods?

Yes, you can, but we do highly recommend you start with the free sample seeds we provide to be successful and get off to a great start. We provide you with a year of seeds and grow pods that we have confidence in their germination rates, growth, taste and quality. We do encourage you to experiment, but we highly recommend you start your growing with our seeds and pods while you learn. Over time, you will find out what plants taste good to you, and find your rhythm of planting, maintaining and harvesting.

How often do I plant a tower in a year?

You can generally expect to get 90 days of growth and more than two dozen “harvests” off your tower. Typical gardening generates about three “harvests” per summer growing season. We usually have a final harvest every three months and put new seedlings we have grown with the germination kit into the tower approximately every 90 days. One customer pruned carefully and went five months with a single planting. Certain plants will have shorter life span and other plants a longer life span. The life of a plant growing in a LifePonic tower is determined by seed type, pruning practices, the amount of light and water as well as the seasons of the year and temperature and humidity that the tower is growing in.

How much food does a tower make?

The LifePonic tower solutions are your solution to having a sustainable and resilient food supply that no one can take away. On average, each tower will produce 16 ounces of leavy greens per week depending on lighting and pruning or harvesting practices. Obviously, the smaller new plants will not produce as much as a larger mature plant. For this reason, we recommend cycling your planting schedule so you have one tower, or part of a tower, on a different grow cycle which will average out the amount of food produced on a weekly basis. More details on choosing the size of your tower solution is found on the Home Page under the title “Food for the whole year” in the middle of the page.

What are the cleaning recommendations for a LifePonic tower?

Cleaning is a personal preference. We recommend a thorough cleaning every 90 days. All tower components are dishwater safe. The tank, pump and tubing is easily wiped down with a blue shop towel and then washed with some warm water and possibly a non-toxic cleaner. Some staining will occur which is normal and expected. Some customers we have prefer to clean more often. We provide members with an operations and maintenance manual with instructions on ways to keep your tower garden clean and working properly.

Will I get shipping updates?

Not at this time (2024), but as we grow and have updates to our website, we will provide real-time similar to Amazon shipping notices to your email address.

How do I get installation support?

Yes, we have installation and assembly videos and instruction manuals in our member area. We also provide support by emailing support@lifeponic-solutions.com.

What is the yearly running cost?

Our annual running costs are the lowest in the industry. Supply costs are approximately $36/year for seeds, grow pods and nutrients. Electrical costs for the lights and pump are approximately $7.50 month or $90.00 per year.

Is your site and payment options secure?

Where do our supplies come from?
